Professional Radiology and Outpatient Imaging Services

Ultrasound (also called a sonogram) is a medical imaging exam that uses sound waves to create images. Ultrasound examinations are non-invasive and painless, and are performed with the use of a probe that emits sound waves, making an image from the reflection of the sound waves. These images show the structure and movement of the body’s organs and blood flow.

What is Ultrasound For?

Diagnostic ultrasound is performed for a wide variety of indications, including obstetrical evaluation, identifying gallstones, and evaluating aneurysms.

Ultrasound Procedures

Uses real-time images to remove a small amount of tissue. Ultrasound imaging allows for accurate placement of the needle by locating the best place to take a tissue sample. The most common ultrasound biopsies performed are thyroid and prostate.

Procedure Prep

Combines high-resolution endovaginal ultrasound with the infusion of sterile saline into the uterine/endometrial cavity. Used to evaluate polyps, fibroids, endometrial atrophy, adhesions, malignant lesions/masses and congenital defects.

Procedure Prep

Used to remove excess fluid from the abdominal cavity caused by infection, inflammation, injury, cirrhosis or cancer. Can also be used to diagnose cause of the fluid buildup, and as therapy to relieve shortness of breath and pain.

Procedure Prep

Used to remove excess fluid from the space between the lungs and chest wall caused by infection, inflammation, heart failure or cancer. Can also be used to diagnose cause of fluid buildup and as therapy to relieve shortness of breath and pain.

Ultrasound Duplex Scan Extremities

Ultrasound imaging involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. The most common reason for a venous ultrasound exam is to search for blood clots, especially in the veins of the leg.

Procedure Prep

Ultrasound Abdomen Complete

This ultrasound exam is used to help diagnose abdominal pain or distention, abnormal liver function, enlarged abdominal organs, stones in the gallbladder or kidney, an aneurysm in the aorta, and may also be used to provide guidance for biopsies.

Transvaginal Ultrasound

A transvaginal ultrasound is usually performed to view the endometrium or the lining of the uterus, including its thickness, and ovaries. Transvaginal ultrasound also affords a good way to evaluate the muscular walls of the uterus.
